From Councilman Eric Costello:

From South Baltimore Peninsula Community Leaders who are actively working on public safety every day, for which I am incredibly grateful!

Criminal Charges filed

Our joint neighborhood association package theft program has identified another alleged serial package thief! The identification occurred based on multiple tips and private video footage submitted by our community. As a result this individual was charged at the Court Commissioner’s office earlier this week with four counts of theft.

If you believe that you have been a victim of package theft from this alleged suspect please do the following:

File an online police report. https://www.baltimorepolice.org/file-police-report

Gather your shipping invoice/receipt to declare the value of items lost. Any item that has been stolen, no matter how small, is still theft and a crime.

Fill out our package theft form so we assist in filing charges. bit.ly/porchpiratevictiminfo

Even though this individual was charged with four counts of theft, he was not held by District Court Commissioner. There is no reason to believe that this individual will stop his pattern of stealing. That is why we need to continually collect evidence from the community. As this evidence builds up and additional charges occur, it is our hope that he will be held pending adjudication by the court.

Update: In early July our community team worked together with the BPD and SAO to file multiple charges against Jess Daniel Louden (aka Danny). Because of this community led effort Danny is still incarcerated pending adjudication of multiple theft cases and a mental health evaluation.

We want to express our gratitude to Sgt. Jimmy Shetterly and the BPD SD Neighborhood Coordinating Office for continuing to take these concerns seriously and filing the appropriate charges. Also, we would like to thank Councilman Eric T. Costello for being incredibly responsive and for using the resources of his office to assist in this project. We are also thankful for the SAO assigning a prosecutor to move forward on these matters. Lastly, we want to thank all the neighbors who have purchased a camera, submitted video evidence and done their part to make our neighborhood a better place to live.

Disclaimer: All suspects are considered to be innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
